When to Reject a Patient
The red shutter is your best friend. Reject the instant any single check layer fails — a missed patient is a tiny loss, an admitted anomaly can end the run.

Not sure yet? Reject.
When in doubt, slam the shutter. The cost of doubting is far lower than the cost of a breach.
1. Where the Shutter Is
The reject control is always on the left of the desk
The reception window has a red Shutter button positioned on the left side of the desk. Pressing it rejects the patient currently at the window.
Do not wait for a second opinion from yourself. The moment one check layer contradicts the patient's story, your default move is to reject.
2. Reject on Any Failed Layer
Visual, photo, or CCTV — one is enough
Visual tell: three eyes, hollow sockets, human teeth, an unnaturally wide grin, or constant twitching.
Photo mismatch: the printed polaroid shows different eyes or ears, or it appears static/corrupted when the live patient is moving.
CCTV tell: censored eyes, staring directly at the camera, or an unnatural body posture on the security feed.
3. Tiny Visitors Are Always Anomalies
Slimebert tiny form, Tiny Mimic, Tiny Anomaly
Any miniature visitor — the Tiny Anomaly, Tiny Mimic, or Slimebert's tiny form — is always an anomaly. There is no legitimate tiny patient.
Reject them at the window, or tase/shoot them if they slip inside. Never admit a tiny visitor hoping it is harmless.
4. Missing vs. Breach
Why rejecting is the low-risk choice
Rejecting a real animal costs only a missed patient and a little lost income. Admitting an anomaly can drain sanity, harm staff, trigger hostile events, or transform the creature into a Skinwalker.
Train yourself to favor the shutter. In Animal Hospital, a cautious receptionist survives longer than a friendly one.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I reject a patient in Animal Hospital?
At the reception desk, press the red Shutter button on the left side of the window. This slams the shutter closed and refuses the current patient instantly without admitting them.
What does the red shutter button do?
The red Shutter button rejects the patient standing at the window. It is the safest action whenever you are unsure, because admitting an anomaly can wipe your entire run.
Does rejecting a real animal cost anything?
Rejecting a genuine patient only costs you a missed patient and the related reward. That is a small loss compared to the danger of letting an anomaly inside.
Can you undo a rejection?
No. Once the shutter closes, the patient is gone for that turn. If you were wrong, you simply lose the patient; if you were right, you just saved the hospital.
