The One Rule

Never treat it. The Skinwalker is the only enemy you can actually kill — confirm it with a Scanner or CCTV, then Gun or Taser it before it reaches you.

🐺

What Is the Skinwalker?

An anomaly that walks in wearing a patient's face.

The Skinwalker is an anomaly that slipped through reception and transformed, then hunts patients and players in the hallways. It disguises itself as a patient, so the danger is treating it like a normal admission — do that, and it attacks.

It is the only enemy in Animal Hospital that can be killed with weapons, which makes early detection the entire game.

How to Detect It

Scanner or CCTV before you ever treat.

Watch for patients acting strangely after admission. Before you commit to treatment, confirm the patient is real:

Detection Methods

  • Scanner tool: instant anomaly readout on suspicious patients.
  • CCTV cameras: review the feed for discrepancies in behavior or form.
  • Photo check: a polaroid can expose tells a casual glance misses.
  • Gut check: if a "patient" makes you uneasy, verify before treating.

See the full three-step method in the Anomalies Guide and the Desk → Photo → CCTV order.

How to Kill the Skinwalker

The only threat you can permanently remove.

Once confirmed, end it fast — before it closes the distance:

  • Gun: one-shot permanent kill, best when you can aim.
  • X-Taser: stuns it and stops the attack if you prefer not to spend the shot.
  • Both are compared in the Taser vs Gun guide.

Do not waste time on Maple Syrup or extinguishers here — weapons are the answer, and the Skinwalker is the proof that some anomalies can be deleted for good.

Skinwalker FAQ

How do you detect a Skinwalker in Animal Hospital?

Watch for patients who act strangely after admission — the Skinwalker slips through reception and transforms. Use a Scanner tool or review CCTV cameras to confirm a patient is actually an anomaly before you treat them. If the scan or footage shows a discrepancy, it is a Skinwalker.

Can you kill the Skinwalker?

Yes — it is the only enemy in Animal Hospital that can be killed with weapons. Shoot it with the Gun for a one-shot permanent kill, or stun it with the X-Taser to stop it from attacking. Do not try to treat it like a normal patient.

What happens if you treat a Skinwalker?

Treating a disguised Skinwalker as if it were a patient triggers an instant attack that can kill you. Always verify suspicious patients with a Scanner or CCTV first, then gun or tase it before it reaches you.

Is the Skinwalker the same as the Tiny Mimic?

No. The Tiny Mimic (formerly called Shapeshifter) hides inside medkit boxes and drawers, while the Skinwalker walks in through reception disguised as a patient. Both can be shot or tased, but they appear in completely different places.
